Redden B. was born in 1817.1 Redden B.'s father was Michael Mial Mattox and his mother was Ruth Byran. His paternal grandparents were David Mattox and Sarah Perkins; his maternal grandparents were Reddin Bryan and Sheba Petty. He had four brothers and four sisters, named David, Redden B., Wiliam J., John Calvin, Evaline, Mahaly, Mary C. and Sarah W.. He was the third oldest of the nine children.-
