Bright was born about 1756 in New Hanover, NC.1 Bright's father was Benjamin Herring and her mother was Mary Bright. Her paternal grandparents were JOHN HERRING and Catherine Morbe. She had four sisters named Dorcas, Nancy, Sarah and Elizabeth. She was the third oldest of the five children.-
