Samuel Chew 
Samuel was born about 1743 in VA..1 Samuel's father was Thomas Chew and his mother was Martha Thompson Taylor. His paternal grandparents were Larkin Chew and Hannah Smith Roy; his maternal grandparents were James Taylor and Martha Thompson. He had five brothers and five sisters, named Joseph, Larkin, Thomas, James, Colby Taylor, Frances, Elizabeth Betsey, Hannah, Alice and Mildred Molly. He died in 1779 in Officer, U.S. Navy, Rev.War, died during the war.1 General Notes

Commanded the the services of Congress and was killed in an engagement in 1779. [ Informatio n in
letter written by his brother, Joseph. See notes under Joseph.] Samuel served as an officer i n the
U.S. Navy during the Rev War and died during the war.
