James Carpenter 
James was born on November 26th, 1849.1 James' father was William Wesley Carpenter and his mother was Sarah W. Mattox. His paternal grandparents were William Carpenter and Amelia Rudisill; his maternal grandparents were Michael Mial Mattox and Ruth Byran. He had two brothers and seven sisters, named William Hyle, Eli, Laura Ann, Henrietta, Martha Jane, Ruth E., Beuthia E., Harriter and LAWRENCE Ann. He had three half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Dennis L., Stephen S., Wllis F., Dorthula and Hattie. He died at the age of 73 on June 6th, 1923.1 -
