John de was born about 1197 in Of Brecknock, Brecon, Wales.1 John de's father was Reginald de BRAOSE and his mother was Alice de BRIWERE. His paternal grandparents were William de BRAOSE and Maud (Matilda) de SAINT VALERY; his maternal grandparents were William II de BRIWERE and Beatrice de VAUX. He had a brother and three sisters, named William Black Will de, Mary de, Loretta de and Maud de. He had two half-brothers named Reginald II de and John de. He died on July 18th, 1232 in Brembye, Sussex, England.1 General Notes
