John Baker Simmons 
John Baker was born on March 28th, 1839 in Buckeystown, Frederick Co., MD. John Baker's father was Baker Howard Simmons and his mother was Teresa Ann Jarboe. His paternal grandparents were John Howard Simmons and Eleanor Howard; his maternal grandparents were William B. Jarboe and Laura Ann Atwood. He had six brothers and three sisters, named Glenville, Mervin Allen, Edwin Augustine, Charles Alonzo, William Heald, Clarence E., Anna Maria, Ida May and Clara. He died at the age of 85 on September 19th, 1924 in Marengo, Iowa Co., IA. He was buried in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Marengo, Iowa Co., IA.General Notes

From Obituary: Mr. Simmons came to Iowa in 1864, after a few months in
Iowa City, he located near Williamsburg and was there married to Mary S.
Long on Nov. 27, 1868. Seven children were born to them all but one of
whom are living. Mr. and Mrs. Simmons came to live in Marengo in 1910
and have made the place their home since that date.
