James Howard 
James was born on December 17th, 1797. James' father was John Eager Howard and his mother was Margaretta Chew. His paternal grandparents were Cornelius Howard and Ruth Eager; his maternal grandparents were Benjamin Chew and Elizabeth Oswald. He had five brothers and three sisters, named John Eager, George, Benjamin C., William, Charles, Juliana Elizabeth, Sophia Catharine and Mary Anne. He was the fourth youngest of the nine children. He died at the age of 72 on March 19th, 1870.General Notes

26th January, 1854; dau of William and Catharine W. (JOHNSON) Ross of
Frederick, Md. He was one of the early presidents, in the days of its
construction, of the Baltimore and Susquehanna R.R., now the Central
R.R. He left issue by both wives.
