William was born before 1711 and his baptism took place on September 23rd, 1711 in Holkham. William's father was John Thacker and his mother was Ann Hutchingson. He had three brothers and two sisters, named John, Thomas, Robert, Elizabeth and Alice. He was the third youngest of the six children.
