John was born before 1704 and his baptism took place on October 8th, 1704 in Holkham. John's father was John Thacker and his mother was Ann Hutchingson. He had three brothers and two sisters, named William, Thomas, Robert, Elizabeth and Alice. He was the oldest of the six children.
