Richard was born in 1818 and his baptism took place on November 29th, 1818 in St John Baptist, Croydon.1 Richard's father was Richard Letts and his mother was Martha. He had a brother and two sisters, named Richard, Mary and Elizabeth. He was the second youngest of the four children.
