Richard was born in 1823 and his baptism took place on October 26th, 1823 in St John Baptist, Croydon.1 Richard's father was Richard Letts and his mother was Martha. He had a brother and two sisters, named Richard, Mary and Elizabeth. He was the youngest of the four children.
