Charlotte was born in 1809 in East Grinstead Sussex.1   Charlotte's father was James WELLER and her mother was Sarah STEER.  Her maternal grandparents were Edward STEER and Mary SMITH. She had a brother and four sisters, named Henry, Mary Ann, Frances, Sarah and Elizabeth.  She was the oldest of the six children.
