Rhoda was born before 1818 and her baptism took place on February 8th, 1818 in Aveton Gifford Devon.1   Rhoda's father was George Steere and her mother was Elizabeth Brooking. She had five brothers and a sister, named Henry, William, George, James, John and Sarah.  She was the second youngest of the seven children.
