Jane was born in 1830 and her baptism took place on January 31st, 1830 in Wisborough Green, Sussex.1   Jane's father was James Steer and her mother was Rebecca Miram.  Her paternal grandparents were George Steer and Mary Pellett. She had six brothers and two sisters, named William, Mark, George, James, Eli, Stephen, Mary and Ann.  She was the fourth oldest of the nine children.  She died at the age of 78 in 1908.2
