Fanny was born in 1881 in Brighton Sussex.1  Fanny's father was James Skinner Steer and her mother was Fanny Cheeseman.  Her paternal grandparents were <Unknown> and Mary Ann Steer. She had three brothers named Harry, Walter and Charles.  She was the second oldest of the four children. She had a half-brother named Alfred.
