David was born in 1730 and his baptism took place on February 11th, 1729.1  David's father was Thomas Steer and his mother was Mary. He had five brothers and three sisters, named George, Thomas, James, William, Daniel, Mary, Elizabeth and Anne.  He was the youngest of the nine children.
