Annie was born in 1879 in Henbury Cheshire.1  Annie's father was William Steer and her mother was Eliza Hardwick.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Steer and Jane Smith. She had a brother and two sisters, named William, Agnes and Nellie.  She was the second oldest of the four children. She had three half-brothers and two half-sisters, named George, Tom, Walter, Eliza and Hariet.
