Maria Beatrice was born about 1882 in Barwick upon Tweed, Northumberland.1   Maria Beatrice's father was Brodie STEIER and her mother was Mary Jane STEIER. She had a brother and three sisters, named David Victor, Mary Jane, Janet Maria and Harriet Ann.  She was the second youngest of the five children.
