Janet Maria was born about 1876 in Sunderland, Co Durham.1   Janet Maria's father was Brodie STEIER and her mother was Mary Jane STEIER. She had a brother and three sisters, named David Victor, Mary Jane, Harriet Ann and Maria Beatrice.  She was the second oldest of the five children.
