Hannah was born about 1838 in Leek, Staffordshire.1   Hannah's father was Thomas STEERS and her mother was Martha STEERS. She had three brothers and four sisters, named James, Thomas, William Edward, Elizabeth, Ann, Ruth and Morton Isabella.  She was the second oldest of the eight children.
