Charles was born about 1890 in Doncaster, Yorkshire.1   Charles' father was Charles STEERS and his mother was Jessie STEERS. He had three brothers and four sisters, named James Norman, Birks, Roland, Hilda, Cora, Felican and Ivy.  He was the third oldest of the eight children.
