William H was born about 1865 in Ecclesfield Yorkshire.1   William H's father was William STEER and his mother was Margaret STEER. He had six brothers and two sisters, named John, James E, Fred, Francis, Earnest, Reganald, Lydia and Florence.  He was the oldest of the nine children.
