Thomas was born on January 18th, 1772 in Tandridge, Surrey.. Thomas' father was William STEER and his mother was Mary ATHERFOLD.  His paternal grandparents were John STEER and Elizabeth FRITH. He had five brothers and four sisters, named William, James, John, Stephen, George, Mary, Clements, Anne and Betty (Elizabeth).  He was the fifth youngest of the ten children.  He died at the age of 57 in November 1829 in Limpsfield Surrey.  He was buried on November 13th, 1829 in St Mary the Virgin, Horne, Surrey..1 2
