Thomas was born in 1723 in Tonbridge, Kent..1   Thomas' father was James STEER and his mother was Elizabeth. He had seven brothers and a sister, named James, William, John, Henry, Humphrey, Joseph, Barnett and Elizabeth.  He was the third oldest of the nine children.
