Maud was born about 1880 in Exeter Devon.1   Maud's father was James STEER and her mother was Ellen STEER.  Her paternal grandparents are <Unknown> and <Unknown>. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Henry, James, Alfred J, Mabel, Beatrice G, Emma and Ethel C.  She was the oldest of the eight children.
