Alfred J was born about 1889 in Exeter Devon.1   Alfred J's father was James STEER and his mother was Ellen STEER.  His paternal grandparents are <Unknown> and <Unknown>. He had two brothers and five sisters, named Henry, James, Maud, Mabel, Beatrice G, Emma and Ethel C.  He was the youngest of the eight children.
