Jane was born in 1817 in Compton, Surrey.1   Jane's father was Richard STEER and her mother was Letitia HOAR. She had four brothers and four sisters, named John, Richard, William, James, Elizabeth, Mary Anne, Ann and Harriet.  She was the third youngest of the nine children.  She died at the age of 18 in March 1835 in Compton, Surrey.  She was buried on March 19th, 1835 in Compton, Surrey.2 1
