Edward Basil was born about 1896 in Hersham.1   Edward Basil's father was James Albert STEER and his mother was Mary Ann STEER. He had three brothers and two sisters, named James Albert, Herbert, Joseph Sidney, Gertrude and Edith.  He was the second youngest of the six children.
