Edith was born about 1893 in Hersham.1   Edith's father was James Albert STEER and her mother was Mary Ann STEER. She had four brothers and a sister, named James Albert, Herbert, Edward Basil, Joseph Sidney and Gertrude.  She was the third youngest of the six children.
