Edgar was born about 1903 in Clitheroe Lancs.1   Edgar's father was Herbert STEER and his mother was Annie STEER. He had four brothers and a sister, named Alfred, Jack, Thomas, Henry Coulthard and Annie.  He was the oldest of the six children.
