Alfred C was born about 1858 in St Peter Port, Guernsey, Channel Islands.1   Alfred C's father was Thomas L STEER and his mother was Sarah STEER. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Edwin H, Edwin, Emily F, Julia M and Louisa.  He was the second youngest of the six children.
