James T was born about 1880 in Rochester, Kent.¹ James T's father was William T STEARS and his mother was Eliza A STEARS. He had four brothers and two sisters, named William E, Sidney V, Edward E, Horace J, Lottie E and Florrie M. He was the second oldest of the seven children.
