Harriett was born about 1844 in Pluckley, Kent.1   Harriett's father was Benjamin STEARS and her mother was Harriett STEARS. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Horace, Benjamin, Charlotte and Hannah.  She was the second oldest of the five children.
