Edward was born about 1874 in Burnham, Essex.1   Edward's father was William H STEARS and his mother was Elizabeth STEARS. He had three brothers and three sisters, named George F, Walter, Herbert, Ada, Emily and Sarah K.  He was the oldest of the seven children.
