Jane was born about 1884 in Hackney, London.1   Jane's father was Joseph STEAR and her mother was Eleanor STEAR. She had five brothers and two sisters, named Joseph, Thomas, James, Henry, Frederick, Ethel and Katherine.  She was the third oldest of the eight children.
