Edith was born about 1876 in Bristol, Gloucestershire.1   Edith's father was Henry STEAR and her mother was Sarah J STEAR. She had three brothers and a sister, named Henry G, Frederick W, Edward and Charlotte E.  She was the youngest of the five children.
