Frances, known as Fanny, was born on March 16th, 1835 in Shoreditch, Middlesex and her baptism took place on April 26th, 1835 in Saint Leonards, Shoreditch, London, England.1 2  Fanny's father was George Wood and her mother was Sophia Eliza Otway David (W Ham).  Her paternal grandparents were Henry Wood (of Ditchling) and Sarah Wood (of Hurst*); her maternal grandparents were Francis David and Sarah Baker. She had seven brothers and three sisters, named George, Frederic, Frederic, Francis, William, Harry, Edwin, Sophia, Emma and Clara.  She was the youngest of the eleven children.  She died at the age of 65 on February 9th, 1901.

‌Fanny and David were married in a religious ceremony on April 4th, 1858 in St Philip's Church Bethnal Green witnessed by George Wood  Jane Ecles her Mark.9  They had five sons and three daughters, named John, Henry, Walter, Arthur, David, Helen, Clara and Jane.
