William was born in 1858 in Hayle, Cornwall.1  William's father was Samuel Whear and his mother was Alice Uren.  His paternal grandparents were Samuel Weare and Ann Leacher; his maternal grandparents were Clement Uren and Alice Harris. He had a brother and two sisters, named Clement, Amy and Caroline.  He was the youngest of the four children.  He died at the age of 75 on May 11th, 1933.
