John's father was John Harold Wright and his mother is Jewel Kathleen Clary.  His paternal grandparents were George Alexander Wright and Mary Gertrude Simpson; his maternal grandparents were Clary and Mary. He has four sisters named Mary, Beverly, Julia and Rebecca. He has two half-sisters named Carrie and Kelly.
