Christopher was born in 1849 in Kingston Upon Hull, Yorkshire, England.1 Christopher's father was Thomas Avison and his mother was Maria Warner. He had two brothers and a sister, named John, Henry and Maria. He was the youngest of the four children. He had a half-brother named John.General Notes

On the 1861 Census for Alderney it has George Ferguson head, Maria Ferguson wife, John Ferguson Son, John Aveson Stepson, Henry Aveson Stepson and Christopher Aveson Stepson.
