"Mr Kevin Lawrence Hempenstall died on Saturday in the Mt Morgan hospital after a short illness.
His death will be felt deeply by relatives and a large number of friends. His father, Mr G. W. Hempenstall, is at present on a health holiday trip to England.
For some years past Mr Hempenstall was a member of the working staff of Mt Morgan Ltd, and was at all times a keen supporter of any movement concerned with the progress and advancement of Mt Morgan, the town of his birth. He was a past president of the Hibernian Society, an active member and honorary secretary to the Tennis Association and hon. secretary also to the Miners' Phthisis Health Committee. He was held in high esteem by all who knew him.
His sister, Cecily, now Mrs James Healy of Proserpine, and his brother Reg, of Childers, were with him at the time of his death."
