The family are in several graves:
Mary Mather (neé Thorp) died in 1856 and was buried at St. Ann, Turton. A year later, their first son Thomas died, and he was buried in a common grave at Tonge Cemetery (Div 4 Sec b 78). When the father Joseph died in 1861 he was a Book Keeper aged 86, still living at Kay Street. John lived another 20 years before dying at Markland Hill Lane, aged 88. Joseph and John are buried in a private grave at Tonge (Div 3 Sec P 38, Grant 2356)
