  Thomas was born about 1780.
  - Birth Notes
    - Hannah and son Samuel were not from Lancashire, so most probably neither was Thomas.
  He died before 1838 in Little Bolton.
  - Death Notes
    - Thomas Mather was not with Hannah on the 1841 census, but we know Hannah was the widow of Thomas from her death certificate of 1848. Therefore, he probably had died before 1841 an Hannah lived with her son Samuel.
      
      There are no adult Thomas Mather deaths in Bolton 1838 to 1841, so died before Sep 1837.
      
      There is a death for Thomas in 1832 which may be him, and probate records in 1833

  Hannah was born in 1780.¹

    - Aged 60 in 1841.
      Aged 68 in 1848 (death)
      
      The 1841 census shows us that Hannah and her (assumed) son Samuel were NOT from Lancashire.
  She died at the age of 68 on March 12th, 1848 in Little Bolton. Her burial was on March 15th, 1848 in Bolton.²
  - Death Notes
    - Hannah Mather died 12th Match 1848 at 20 Charles Street, Little Bolton.
      The house is no longer there (dont confuse with another Charles St at Farnworth). in 1851 the house was occupied by Ann Hopkinson (Head, Widow, 40) with her 4 young daughters and 2 old female lodgers, so perhaps Hannah was a lodger here before she died.
      
      Q1/1848 Hannah Mather, Aged 68, Little Bolton. The death certificate shows "Hannah was the widow of Thomas Mather, Iron Moulder". Mary Davies present at the death, 7 Waggon Road, Little Bolton.
      
      This Hannah Mather, was probably the mother of Samuel was alive in 1841.
      
      There is also a death of Hannah Mather in 1844, Turton.

    Probably over 21 when married, so about 1792. This is a perfect match with the burial age. However, not born in Lancashire.
    
    Hannah is probably his mother (was with Samuel in 1841, aged 60) and also not from Lancashire
    
    There was another Samuel Mather (1787-1848) who died the following year, aged 61
  He died at the age of 55 in May 1847 in Little Bolton. His burial was on May 21st, 1847 at St. Peter's (Bolton).³
