William was born in 1753 at Park Gate and his baptism took place on May 22nd, 1753 in Neston.1  William's father was Robert Woodworth (Woodward) and his mother was Elizabeth (Betty) Cole.  His paternal grandparents were Robert Woodworth and Mary Knowles. He had a brother and two sisters, named Robert, Mary and Nancy.  He was the oldest of the four children.
