Doris was born in September 1899 in Golcar.1  Doris' father was Lawson Wood and her mother was Ellen Taylor.  Her paternal grandparents were <unknown> and Sarah Wood; her maternal grandparents were William Taylor and <Unknown>. She had four brothers and a sister, named Fred, Harold, Ronald, Herbert and Eva.  She was the third oldest of the six known children.  She died at the age of 84 in 1983.
