Katherine, known as Katie, was born in 1880 in Illinois (IL). Katie's father was Christoph Heinrich Witthoft Jnr and her mother was Johanna (Anna) C Dittmer.  Her maternal grandparents were Henry Dittmer and Marie Stienhaur. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Henry, John, Anna, Dora and Emma.  She was the oldest of the six known children.  She died at the age of 87 on May 8th, 1967.
