Richard was born on July 21st, 1821 in Ormskirk and his baptism took place there on August 22nd, 1821.1  Richard's father was Richard Walmsley and his mother was Martha Forshaw. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Thomas, James, Stephen, Mary, Elizabeth, Martha and Alice.  He was the fourth youngest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 76 in 1897.



Richard's family with Rachel Mather

‌Richard and Rachel were married in a religious ceremony on May 1st, 1847 in Liverpool by minister J H Stafford and witnessed by Robert Walmsley Jnr & Caroline Priestley Mather.1  They had three sons and four daughters, named Edwin, Fredric, Thomas, Martha, Mary, Caroline and Sophia.  There are possibly more children.
