Martha was born in 1824 in Ormskirk and her baptism took place there on July 25th, 1824.1  Martha's father was Richard Walmsley and her mother was Martha Forshaw. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, James, Richard, Stephen, Mary, Elizabeth and Alice.  She was the third youngest of the eight children.  She died at the age of 84 in 1908.
