Jane was born in 1833 in Liverpool and her christening took place there on July 14th, 1833.1 2  Jane's father was James Tyack and her mother was Mary Roberts. She had two brothers and three sisters, named John, James, Elizabeth, Mary and Sarah.  She was the oldest of the six children.

‌Jane and Thomas were married in a religious ceremony in March 1855 at St. Peter (Liverpool).3
