Mary's father was John Tomlinson and her mother was Martha Lindop.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Tomlinson and Phoebe Owens. She had four sisters named Martha, Frances, Elizabeth and Margaret.  She was the second oldest of the five children.  She died at the age of 3 in June 1814 in Malpas.  She was buried on June 17th, 1814 at St. Oswalds (Malpas).¹
